چکیده

Abstract The adhesive bond between the nozzle diffuser shell and insulation layer of solid rocket motors (SRM) is widely used due to its lightweight, simple design, easy operation. mechanism adhesive-bonded failure them a concern for designers. In this paper, simplified finite element method analysis in SRM proposed. method, shell, layer, are considered elastic. maximum Von Mises stress criterion assumed be suitable adhesive. simulated by using user subroutine VUSDFLD commercial Finite Element Analysis software ABAQUS. verified but effective based on comparison with experimental results. process under external load can well simulated, critical accurately predicted. addition, utilized study several kinds original debonding. It suggested that axial debonding ratio should less than 60%, circumferential angle smaller 30° conical section diffuser.

Development of a Reusable Aerospike Nozzle for Hybrid Rocket Motors

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, has developed an innovative program of experimental research and development on hybrid rocket motors (where the fuel and the oxidizer are in different phases prior to combustion). One project currently underway involves the development of aerospike nozzles for such motors. These nozzles, ho...

Digital imaging system for linac X-rays for NDE of case bonded solid rocket motors

Digital X-ray radiography has been found to be an appropriate NDT tool for Quality Assurance of large size solid rocket motors, high explosive charges, etc. This technique provides quick and comparable image quality as compared to conventional film radiography. A CCD-based Digital Imaging System (DIS) integrated with a 4 MeV linac X-ray source, installed for the first time in India at HEMRL, Pu...

Acoustic-Mean Flow Interaction in Solid Propellant Rocket Motors

There are several sources for pressure oscillations in solid propellant rocket motors. Oscillatory flow field is one of them. Free shear layers in motor flow field cause vortex shedding. End edges of propellant grains and baffle edge in two-segmented motors are samples of such zones. These vortices move from their forming points and strike the field walls. The kinetic energy of vortices change ...

A Proposed Modeling Method in Finite Element Slope Stability Analysis

Limit-equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) with strength reduction method (SRM) techniques are the most widely used analysis tools in slope stability assessment. Recently, researchers have reported that both factor of safety (FOS) values and failure surfaces obtained from LEM and FEM are generally in good agreement, except in some particular cases. In this paper, the FOS and...
